[email protected]The Distinguished Visiting Fellowship is a joint programme of the London Mathematical Society (LMS) and the International Centre for Mathematics in Ukraine. Within this scheme scientists with recognized achievements in their disciplines can spend at ICMU an extended period of time and give a series of lectures or a colloquium for the benefit of the Ukrainian mathematical community and students.
For the visit of an LMS Distinguished Visiting Fellow there will be a host Ukrainian scientist. The role of the host is to chair the lectures and to gather an audience for them.
ICMU provides the workspace and arranges lodging of LMS Distinguished Visiting Fellows and their hosts. This programme operates in the temporary workspace of ICMU provided by our partner organisation - Kyiv School of Economics (KSE). Address: Mykoly Shpaka st. 3, 02000, Kyiv.
LMS reimburses the LMS Distinguished Visiting Fellow for their travel to Kyiv, while ICMU may assist in arranging their trip. LMS pays a per diem to the LMS Distinguished Visiting Fellow. The per diem rate is £50 for the first ten days and thereafter £25 up to thirty days.
To apply for an LMS Distinguished Visiting Fellowship please send us a proposal for a lecture series (or other useful activities) and the desired dates of stay at ICMU. Please either suggest the Ukrainian host or ask ICMU to find them.
Applications are considered on a rolling basis. Please mention the name of the programme (LMS Distinguished Visiting Fellowship) in the subject of your email.
It is expected that visitors within this programme spend at ICMU a period between one week (five working days) to one month. The host is expected to belong to a Ukrainian scientific institution, and to stay at the ICMU for between 5 and 10 days. Some deviation from this rule is possible. The host will receive a daily allowance and travel reimbursement.
We highly recommend that foreign visitors arrive in Kyiv with travel insurance purchased with an international insurance company. If this isn't possible, ICMU will assist its visitors with medical insurance for foreigners in Ukraine. See notes on safety for visiting scholars.
Once the Centre's building is ready to host visitors, along with the thematic programmes there will also be regular calls for postdoctoral and long term visiting positions.

Other programmes
ICMU summer/winter schools
The Centre facilitates organisation of scientific schools that introduce students and Ph.D. candidates to active areas of modern research.
Collaboration @ICMU
Small groups of researchers can spend one to two weeks at ICMU to work on specific projects. This programme operates in the temporary workspace provided by our partner organisation - the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE).
ICMU for education and outreach
The Centre organises lectures in which professional scientists present mathematical concepts and ideas in an accessible manner. We also translate modern scientific mathematics textbooks into Ukrainian.
