Borys Kadets (Hebrew University of Jerusalem) will share several stories illustrating how algebraic methods help solve classical problems of Euclidean geometry rather easily. The purpose of these talks is to provide a gentle introduction to algebraic geometry that does not require difficult techniques, which are usually necessary even for an initial acquaintance with the field. The only prerequisite is not to be afraid of the words "complex numbers" and "projective plane".

We invite students, high school students, and all those interested in mathematics. The lectures will be conducted in Ukrainian!

Ahead of the first lecture, there will be a small inauguration ceremony for the working space of the Centre. All participants from Kyiv are invited to attend the ceremony.

Borys Kadets is a talented young mathematician from Ukraine who works on a number of important problems in number theory and algebraic geometry. Borys studied at the Department of Mathematics of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. In 2020, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) under the supervision of Bjorn Poonen.
